About "New Mexico Guy" And This Web Site
New Mexico Guy is pretty much run by one guy - myself - and my name is Steve. You might
find this odd, but I live in Buena Vista, Colorado,
a small town in central Colorado that sits at 8,000 feet above sea
level amidst towering Rocky Mountains in almost every direction.
Ah, but I have always had a thing for New Mexico! I remember when I arrived
in New Mexico for the very first time in September 2004. I had just graduated
college and was embarking on an across America road trip. I had never been to
the West, and my two or three days in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, taking
in the sun, admiring the mountains, gazing at the deserts, soaking in the hot
springs (at the old hostel!) and even kayaking on the Rio Grande was all too
much for me. Something deep in my heart told me I was coming back west, and
two years later, I left the east coast for good and ended up in Colorado.
For the most part, I really love living in Colorado, and in fact, my largest
web site is ColoradoGuy.com.
However, to this day, I still get these "itches" in my spirit - to head south into the
Land of Enchantment. My managing this web site is a
personal journey of sorts, for the beauty of the Southwest feels very much a part of me.
Already, because of the submission other New Mexicans have made to this site, I can enjoy some
"New Mexico fixes" now and then!
Now that New Mexico Guy is exists, I have even more reasons to visit
the Land of Enchantment to photograph and document all it has to offer.
And who knows, I'm still open to moving south ... Colorado
winters can be really long, you know. ;)
Lastly, you are very welcome to submit your own photos,
articles, stories, trip reports and memories about New Mexico.
Visit the Submission Page for more details about how to make that happen!
All the best,
Steve
